South Gavā
South Gavā contains some of the best-preserved old farmhouses in the town, surrounded by new parkland
Among the sites is the Can Rosés farmhouse, the particularly notable Parc de Calamot, urbanised areas, and cultural and health centres.
Parc del Calamot
This was opened in 1998 and covers 11.6 hectares, of which the first phase of 5.6 hectares has already been developed.
The park has a viewpoint-hill, six rest areas, two children´s play areas, a jogging route, five large parterres, a 1,500-m2 plaįa, 2 car parks and a raised path along the highest part of the park.
Plaįa de les Panes
The Plaįa de les Panes is one of the public spaces built during the 90´s when the old site of the Serra Balet textile company was urbanised.
The plaįa in this residential zone has a children´s playground, games area, and, at the far end where it meets the Passeig de la Riera de les Parets, there is a health centre, which opened in 1993.
American Lake Cultural Centre
The centre was opened in 1996, after the restoration of the old Torre de l´American Lake building, dating from 1898.
It has a main building, consisting of basement, ground floor, two further floors and an annexe for activities such as concerts, lectures and theatre. The centre has two music practice rooms, a multi-use hall, a photo laboratory and painting and music rooms.
Can Rosés
This is one of the most striking farmhouses in Gavā and a listed building. In the 16th century it was known as Can Riera de Serguerar and was a centre of an important farm.
Can Rosés is a good example of a farmhouse with an incorporated fortified tower. A sundial dominates the centre of the faįade.
