The International Athletics Meeting
The event has become an important date in the sporting calendar
Since 1998, Gavā has held a first-class sporting event, organised by the Patronat Municipal d'Esports (Municipal Sports Board) of the Gavā town council and the Club Atletisme Gavā, with support from the Real Federaciķn Espaņola de Atletismo, the Federaciķ Catalana d'Atletisme and the Barcelona regional government.
Since 1999, the Gavā International Athletics Meeting, held in the Bōbila Stadium, has been part of the Europe Athletisme Promotion (EAP), which aims to help organisers, trainers and athletes cross frontiers freely and easily. The meeting´s international status has become well established by the participation of 200 top athletes from 20 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas attempting to reach the standards that will open the doors to the seasol's major international events.
